Divisional Director - Transportation

David is the Divisional Director of the Transportation division of Goodson Associates and has been with the firm since 1998, when he had considerably less grey hair.

He has nearly 40 years of experience in the roads and transportation field and during his career has worked on projects of all shapes and sizes throughout the UK.

One of David’s key philosophies is to make transport planning less of an academic exercise, purely focussed on securing planning consent, and to make it an integral part of the design process. In many cases, the deliverability of a project hinges on the quality of the early transport planning work.

Outside work, David has had a long-standing involvement with the Institution of Civil Engineers at both local and national level. He has served on the ICE Scotland committee since 2010 and was chair for the 2021-2022 session. He also enjoys live music, though camping in muddy fields holds less attraction these days.
