Monifieth High School is to be replaced by a new building that will house the Monifieth Learning Campus.
The proposed facility consists of a three-storey campus that includes teaching areas, swimming pool and games hall, all designed to comply with Passivhaus standards. Externally, extensive sports pitches will be provided.
Location: Perth
Client: –
Value: £ 50 Million
Project Dates: 2025
A concrete frame was selected for the majority of the structure, with long span steel beams designed over open areas such as the games hall and swimming pool. Due to the Passivhaus nature of the project significant coordination between the structure and services has been required.
The selection of a concrete frame is beneficial in this regard, as this structural solution minimises the requirement for downstand beams within the ceiling services zone.
The full scheme will be delivered as a tandem build with the existing school remaining operational as the new campus is constructed within the existing playground. Upon completion of the new building, the existing school will be demolished and replaced with an all-weather pitch and a further grass pitch.
