The design of two new secondary schools, Nicolson Institute and Sir E Scott Secondary Schools.

New braced steel framed buildings with composite cast in-situ floors. Nicholson is on a sloping site which required considerable retention and was constructed adjacent to the existing school site. Some decant facilities were included as well as the refurbishment of the existing listed buildings. Challenges included poor ground conditions, a sloping site and having to design for blast conditions at Nicholson.
