Project Description

The formation of flat accommodation involved a combination of new build and refurbishment. The building was originally used as a warehouse consisting of cast iron structural frame supporting deep timber joists.

Construction Overview

The layout of the new accommodation was influenced by the existing beam and column lines which were encapsulated within the stud wall construction. The new build element included car parking at ground floor level. The optimum structural solution was attained by co-ordinating load bearing timber elements above first floor with the car parking layout at the ground floor level. The feature balconies at the rear of the building are supported directly of the first floor deck and restrained by the timber frame construction.
